trifermed — One purpose, many expressions

Our Commitment

We believe understanding is the beginning of good advice.

Empathy helps us understand your situation. Compassion encourages us to help improve it.
That is why every interaction should leave you better than it found you—whether we eventually work together or not.

Back to Purpose

One purpose.
Many expressions.

Whether you arrive here directly or after exploring other parts of our website, this page explains something different. The previous pages describe how we think, how we work, who we are and how our intelligence continues to evolve. This page explains why all of that exists.

The trifermed infinity at the centre of many expressions: strategic partnerships, communities, essays and dialogue, innovation programmes, investments, universities and foundations, above a glowing horizon

Why we began

Our story did not begin with strategy. It began with medicine.

Like many healthcare professionals, we started with a simple commitment: helping improve people's health.

Over time, we discovered that this purpose could be expressed in many different ways. Treating patients was one. Supporting innovators was another. Building strategic partnerships, strengthening organizations, creating communities, teaching, investing in innovation and developing new intelligence systems gradually became additional ways of pursuing exactly the same objective.

The forms changed. The purpose never did.

One way of thinking. Many expressions.

Although these initiatives may appear different, they all express the same underlying way of thinking.

Whether we are facilitating a strategic partnership, publishing an essay, designing a collective intelligence environment or supporting an innovation programme, the objective remains the same: to help people better understand complex situations, exercise sound judgement and make better decisions under uncertainty.

Over time, this way of thinking has become the common thread connecting everything we do.

The architecture itself is not what matters most. What matters is the clarity, confidence and better decisions it helps make possible. That is why the same way of thinking can naturally be expressed through many different initiatives.

Portrait of Hippocrates rendered in cyan light

Back to Hippocrates

More than two thousand years ago, Hippocrates helped establish one of the most enduring principles in medicine:

For generations, physicians have expressed that commitment through the Hippocratic Oath, not as a promise to possess all the answers, but as a solemn commitment of care, judgement and experience in the best interest of those they serve.

Although our work has evolved far beyond direct patient care, that commitment has never changed.

Today, we contribute by helping innovators, organizations, universities, foundations and communities make better decisions that ultimately improve people's health.

  • Technology continues to evolve.
  • Organizations continue to evolve.
  • Artificial Intelligence continues to evolve.
  • The ways we contribute continue to evolve.

Our purpose does not.

Everything we have built simply represents different expressions of the same lifelong commitment:

helping improve people's health.
